Nokia’s Ovi failing to install

On Windows 7 64 bits, it seems that Nokia’s Ovi refuses to install. The error message is:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {303994BA-6487-47AE-AF1D-7AF6088EEBDB}. HRESULT:0x80070002

HRESULT:0x80070002 can actually be replaced by any other kind of uninformative variation. And noone gives a $#!* about that at Nokia since the problem was reported at least 3 years ago. The solutions proposed on various threads on Nokia’s forums are standard jokes:

  • “try installing the latest version of Ovi” – in case you like to pick random deprecated versions for your first try to install a piece of software
  • “apply the latest Windows updates and try again” – who knows, maybe Microsoft included a patch to fix broken third party software?
  • “uninstall everything on your PC then try reinstalling Ovi” – Captain Subtext: “YOUR computer is buggy, it really is. Plus I’m sure you have tons of viruses, and maybe a misconfigured firewall or some other thing. Anyway, it’s YOUR fault if our software doesn’t work.”
  • “reinstall Windows and try again” – Captain Subtext: “our software is perfect, YOUR computer is buggy, don’t you get it FFF Sake?”

I bet you’re getting desperate to find a fix. Well, lucky you, I found the ultimate solution to this problem. The solution is simply to throw the mobile phone through any window, and never ever buy Nokia’s c*** again.

Of course, this may void your warranty, so should you choose to apply this patch you’re taking all responsibility for it and assuming all the risks yourself. YOUR computer is the buggy one, after all 😉

PS: this was written on March 12 after endless hours of frustration trying to get Nokia’s **** working, but I thought it might be wiser to wait until a more appropriate day to publish it. Maybe (lol) by now Nokia dealt with the issue?
